Digital Authorship is an elective class offered to 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. In this class, we expand our idea of authorship by exploring the various ways and purposes that work is authored today. This may be in the form of movies, commercials, blogs, podcasts, online or printed books, sketches and more! Students will explore their passions, creatively express their voices and create their own authored pieces using a variety of tech tools.*
*Students participating in this course have access to all needed technology and print resources.
6th Grade Emphasis
6th Grade Digital Authorship is a semester long creative course with an emphasis on introducing the first steps of digital production through storytelling. The class is project based and is led through a workshop approach. Through a variety of creative projects, students have the opportunity to develop storytelling and communication skills while learning new uses of tech* that are also transferable to other content areas.
7th & 8th Grade Emphasis
7th and 8th grade students participating in this year-long Digital Authorship course will take digital production to another level through the use of iMovie, Garageband, iBooks Author, green screen technology and additional Macbook apps*. This class is led using a workshop framework. The second half of the year holds a strong emphasis on student self-directed projects where students have the opportunity to define their own (independent and/or collaborative) projects. Through this self-directed approach, students will gain a stronger understanding of their individual purposes as authors and will have the opportunity to explore their unique passions and interests!
